I could fill a whole book with the story of me and the environment (and no one would want to read it *g*), but I will say that one under-rated reason for supporting sound environmental policies is that I'm a total CHEAPSKATE. I can't stand to throw away anything useful, and the fact that our entire culture seems to be centered on throwing away useful stuff offends me to the very core of my soul.

Everyone's got their own priorities and special circumstances, so I try not to get too judge-y about this stuff (how can I, when I gleefully use disposable diapers for my kids?) -- but I will confess that I sometimes fish recyclable cans and bottles out of public trash cans and take them home to recycle.
